SOLO Election & Candidate Bios:

All Solo Division members will receive a link to take you to survey monkey to vote for your choices for Chair-Elect and Treasurer. If you do not receive an e-mail by Tuesday 12/20, please contact me at hdworkin@nyc.rr.com.

The e-mail used is the one you provided for your SLAmembership profile. We also have a question regarding the list. It is not a binding vote and comments will be used for information gathering purposes only-we want your opinion–your voice.

Voting ends 12/28/11 5pm EST.

Thank you to our candidates and good luck!

Here are the bios for the candidates:

Chair-Elect:

Tom Nielsen

Tom Nielsen is Member Services Manager at the Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO) where he maintains benefit programs for all membership groups and plans professional development workshops, meetings, and special events. Prior to METRO, Tom worked as a solo librarian at Hazen and Sawyer, PC, an environmental engineering firm. While there, Tom transformed the almost forgotten library into a 21st century information center implementing a web-accessible library catalog, intranet website and records management database in service to over 500 engineers in 13 offices along the East Coast.

Treasurer:

Susan Wright

Susan Wright (nee Barned) has been the librarian at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives National Laboratory Center (forensic laboratory) for seven years. She joined SLA and the Solo Division in 2008 and has been interested in becoming more involved with the division for about two years. She learned the basics of budgeting and financial management as a child and has consistently looked for the best combination of price and value in making purchases. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, playing her piano and spending time with friends.

Lisa Abbott

Lisa Abbott has been a solo librarian for over ten years and is grateful for the support and camaraderie of her fellow Solos, both online and off. She is currently the research librarian for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, responsible for the information needs of Keebler elves, worldwide. Her previous positions include information specialist for the Kellogg Foundation and special collections librarian for a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center. She lives in Kalamazoo with her husband and three cats and, like any true Michigander, can show you where that is on her hand.
